Open Document
Auto Launch can be configured to open any kind of document when a disk is inserted. This is useful for opening HTML or PDF files that contain information such as a product catalog or other information.

Folder Browsing
Auto Launch can be configured to open a file browsing window on the disk after it has been inserted. This allows files on the disk such as documents or movie clips to be quickly and easily opened.

Slide Show
Auto Launch can be configured to display a slide show of images on the ROM disk after it has been inserted. This allows pictures to be easily shared with people who know very little about using a computer. You simply insert the disk and watch a slide show of pictures. The display time for each image is programmable.

Knowledge of copying files and editing text files is required for using this software.

Documentation
The autolaunch software reads the text file autoLaunch.txt to determine the required action. Each line starts with one of following identifiers:
object=
start=
parameters=

object -	the file to open.
start -	the folder the object is opened in.
parameters -	the command line parameters for the object. If required, additional parameters can be specified by using more than one parameters= statement line.

Auto Launch can be disabled from working by holding the SHIFT key down during disk insertion. The SHIFT key must be held down until the inserted disk has completely loaded.

How to Auto Launch and Browse a Folder
Create a folder and copy the following files to it:

(i)	all root files: main\AutoLaunch.exe, main\autorun.inf, main\insmart-ack.txt and main\InsmartAutoLaunch.url,
(ii)	all BrowseFolder files: BrowseFolder\AutoLaunch.txt, BrowseFolder\BrowseFolder.exe

Now edit the AutoLaunch.txt file and change the parameters value to the name of the folder that must be browsed. Do not include a drive letter. Include all of these files in the disk compilation.

How to Auto Launch and Open a Document
Although this is possible directly from the autorun.inf file it is a lot easier to test the launching process when AutoLaunch.exe is used.

Create a folder and copy the following files to it:

(i)	all root files: main\AutoLaunch.exe, main\autorun.inf, main\insmart-ack.txt and main\InsmartAutoLaunch.url,
(ii)	The OpenDocument\AutoLaunch.txt

Now edit the AutoLaunch.txt file and change the object name to the name of the file that must be opened. Do not include a drive letter. Include all of these files in the disk compilation.
 

How to Auto Launch and Display a Slide Show
Create a folder and copy the following files to it:

(i)	all root files: main\AutoLaunch.exe, main\autorun.inf, main\insmart-ack.txt and main\InsmartAutoLaunch.url,
(ii)	the SlideShow\AutoLaunch.txt file,
(iii)	copy the ImSoftware folder (not the files) from the slideshow folder to this folder.

The default folder that is used to display images for the slideshow is \Images. To change the folder location edit the AutoLaunch.txt file and change both references to \Images to the desired folder. Do not include a drive letter.

You can also change the -ss:3000 value to change the desired display time for each image.

The 3000 represents 3 seconds which is the display time in milliseconds or seconds times one thousand. For 2.5 seconds you would change the value to 2500.

Include all of these files and folder in the disk compilation.

To terminate the slide show the viewer simply presses the ENTER key.

The software that is used to perform the slide show is a totally free 2004 version of image software jpegger produced by Vallen-Systeme GmbH.

 
Test the Auto Launch settings before burning a disk
It is very easy to test what AutoLaunch will do when a disk is inserted without having to burn a disk. Simply copy the auto launch files to the root path on C Drive or to the root path on a removable flash drive and execute the AutoLaunch.exe application.
